Wasted emotions

Worry, bitterness, vindictiveness, jealousy, hate and even anger are some common “wasted emotions.” When you find yourself taking on or being around these wasted emotions acknowledge it and develop skills to rid yourself of them.

Throughout the day these emotions get in your way and slow you down. These feelings rob you of success and waste precious time, time you cannot get back.

Sometimes you may find yourself thinking progressively and excitedly about all the things you want to accomplish only to be exposed to someone who is adamant about sharing their “wasted emotions” with you! This one is easy. Politely excuse yourself from their presence.

The more challenging one is when you are feeling emotions that are not moving you forward, emotions that waste your time, slow you down and interfere with your success and level of enjoyment.

People have varying degrees of “wasted emotions”: some run deeper and longer while others run for short periods of time.  Recognizing, admitting, and developing skills to change these thoughts are what’s really needed.

I had been told by a very successful Doctor friend that in order to change a behavior one must practice the change every day for at least an hour for six to eight months straight. Yep, it is a lot of work, but just think of the pay off!

For the professional salesperson making sales calls, it’s important that they never bring “wasted emotions” with them.
