The story of Saputo began in Montreal in 1954, when a family from Sicily began modestly delivering their cheese products by bike. Twenty years later, Saputo had already become the largest manufacturer of Mozzarella in Canada. The company went public in Toronto in 1997, and has since ceased strategic acquisitions to diversify production and geographic distribution. Today, Saputo is one of the top ten dairy processors in the world, the largest manufacturer of cheese and dairy processors in Canada. and sells its products in more than 40 countries. The company occupies a prominent place in Australia, Argentina and the United States, where it ranks every time in the lead pack of dairy processors.
