Join us as full time Manager, Clinical Applications.
Reporting to theDirector, Enterprise Data and Clinical Information Management, the Manager, Clinical Applications, is responsible for leading a team responsible for managing, maintaining operations and training, overseeing project implementations, and optimizing the Oracle Health Cerner system at MGH. You will collaborate with MGH stakeholders to identify opportunities for system enhancement, and provide guidance andrecommendations on how Oracle Health Cerner can be customized and designed to support patient care delivery.
Primary Responsibilities
- Team Leadership and Management
- Lead a team of application support staff, including Clinical Informatics Specialists, Technical
Specialists, Applications Specialists, Business Systems Analysts, Project Managers, and Trainers - Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance on staff, and schedule and prioritization of staff workloads.
- Conduct regular staff performance assessments, provide constructive feedback, and identify opportunities for professional development.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture to drive excellence in healthcare IT service delivery.
- Effectively manages the operating/capital budgets and successful delivery of projects.- Drive continuous improvement with respect to the team, program, processes, and technology delivery.
- Application Management, Strategy, and Optimization
- Coordinates the execution of all data, functional, and technical decisions relative to clinical system applications and databases.
- Develop system/upgrade rollout strategies including managing organizational change and ensuring that there is appropriate training and support for staff as part of project implementation. - Conduct regular assessments to identify areas for improvement and collaborate with clinical professional practice to develop and execute strategies for optimizing system performance, workflows, and user experience.
- Develop policies and procedures, informatics standards, and change management strategies.
- Assists with the development and execution of the Information Management and Technology (IMT) Strategic Plan in conjunction with the Director, Enterprise Data and Clinical Information Management, IMT Leadership Team, Chief Medical Information Officer, Chief Information Officer and hospital senior leadership.
- Stakeholder Relationship Management
- Create and maintain relationships with MGH clinical/operations stakeholders, and external stakeholders, including other Ontario Oracle Health Cerner hospital teams, Ontario Health, and vendors.
- Vendor Relationship Management
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with the Oracle Health Cerner vendor andpartners - Work closely with Oracle Health Cerner to manage contract negotiations and renewals, issue resolution, bringing forward MGH priorities to influence product roadmap development and advocate for features to be aligned with the hospital’s needs.
EDUCATION
- Baccalaureate degree in a Clinical, Business, Health Informatics, Health Administration stream or equivalent program required.
- Clinical background and/or experience in the health care field is an asset.
Experience
- 8+ years related experience, including operational management of clinical information system(s), IT Project Management, and managing teams in a health care or similarly complex environment.
- Experience with Cerner Millennium, an asset.
- Experience and proven track record in managing people.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to systematically analyze situations/issues, identify options, draw logical conclusions and determine/recommend practical courses of action
- Demonstrated ability in both project management and technology management with a focus on technical solution development and deployment in complex multi stakeholder environments. - Demonstrated ability to function at a high level of autonomy in setting objectives for a team, managing expectations and tracking; budget, resource allocation and performance.
- Well-developed interpersonal and client relationship skills.
- Ability to be flexible in hours worked including some work afterhours and on weekends.
