YOUR DAY TO DAY LIFE We are looking for a Technical Sales Manager in CAN. Your mission will be to:

  • Establish strong relationships with existing Premier accounts in the designated territory at various levels with key business and technical contacts. Efforts will be reflected in monthly meeting and client contact goals.
  • Win new business from current and potential Premier target accounts. Efforts will be reflected in the Sales Performance Report including; monthly meeting and client contact goals, pipeline growth and in achieving monthly closed sales requirements.
  • Support Key Account sites within assigned territory and develop strong relationships with contacts at those sites. Administer Corporate Key Account initiatives and provide bottom up communication to the Key Account Manager responsible for those sites.
  • Write and present professional business proposals and assist with preparation of requests for proposals.
  • Work directly with other Sales personnel, as a resource within territory, to develop and implement key National or multiple lab accounts.
  • Manage existing regional and/or multi lab accounts and work to establish new regional and/or multi lab accounts as warranted to help increase our business locally and throughout the network.
  • Negotiate price increases based on feedback from management and your knowledge of the Premier account base.
  • At least annually, perform periodic business reviews with specific Premier clients as determined through discussions with the Division Vice President.
  • Maintain client files within CRM documenting significant meetings, telephone calls and the status of sales opportunities.
  • Complete required Professional call reports following key client meetings for additional communication to affected business units
  • Maintain information on competitors’ strengths, weaknesses, policies, pricing, services, etc., to increase likelihood of winning bid situations
  • Participate in the monthly sales conference calls and in divisional/national sales training events.
  • Develop and maintain professional selling skills including those following the Sandler Training methodologies.
  • Develop and maintain personal technical expertise relating to food safety and quality programs.
  • Utilize pivot tables, email, MyMXNS and other information technology tools to manage account base, sales activities and develop client relationships.
  • Support corporate quality and continuous improvement process.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.

YOUR PROFILE

  • A broad knowledge of food safety programs and systems including environmental monitoring, finished product sampling, HACCP, food microbiology, food chemistry, and research capabilities.
  • A thorough knowledge of food science typically obtained from a Bachelor's degree or from equal experience within the food testing industry.
  • 2-5 years relevant work experience required, previous related sales experience would be an asset.
  • A thorough knowledge of company procedures is essential to identify marketing opportunities and assure accurate client service.
  • A familiarity with methods and current industry testing procedures for food microbiology and chemistry.
  • A broad knowledge of technical sales techniques, Sandler/SPIN selling process and client service experience is required to increase new business and improve existing client relations.

Required Skills

  • General knowledge of personal computer operation is necessary to develop reports, assist clients and conduct analyses.
  • General knowledge of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) is needed to review analysis results and correct any discrepancies.
  • Fully developed interpersonal and written communication skills to interface with clients and laboratory management.
  • The ability to be seen as a resource to others within the local management team, sales specialists, key clients and Regional Sales Directors and Division Vice President.
  • he ability to analyze current situations and determine the optimal course of action within guidelines set by the supervisor. Problems are unique to each situation and may require immediate action.
  • The ability to provide accurate and current to provide quality service to the client. Resources may not be readily available and the incumbent must use their own expertise to address the problem. Resolutions of problems require extensive research and analysis of situations to avoid future occurrences. Little written policy is available for guidance.

Management (Size And Characteristics Of The Team(s))

  • None
  • The incumbent receives general direction from the Division Vice President and mentoring and direction from their Regional Sales Director. This individual is responsible for achieving specific goals established with the Regional Sales Director. Daily activities proceed at the discretion of the incumbent with occasional prioritizing and coaching by the Regional Sales Director.

Work Environment The incumbent works from their home office with proper lighting and temperature control. Occasional overnight auto and air travel is necessary for client visits and while visiting other laboratory locations. Incumbent is provided a company vehicle or vehicle allowance to perform these duties. Manual dexterity is essential to create work products on the computer. The incumbent must be able to enter a variety of workplace environments to gain clients. Incumbent must work within the territory they will be servicing. Travel can be anywhere from 50-80% regionally.

Compensation Base Pay Range $80,000 - $110,000 CAD

Eligible for Sales Incentive Bonus Plan
