About Us

The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry provides outstanding education within a research-intensive, distributed learning environment, where tomorrow's physicians, dentists and health researchers and other scholars learn to be socially responsible leaders in the advancement of human health. The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry is the largest Faculty on campus and employs over 2,000 part-time and full-time faculty and over 1,200 staff.

Responsibilities

The Marker will be responsible for marking and grading a variety of written work completed by students, including assignments, projects, midterms, and final exams. The incumbent will evaluate the students' work in accordance with the marking guidelines, provide corrections and feedback, and submit grades for review based on specific guidelines from the Instructor. The incumbent may be required to submit written feedback to students based on the quality of work received, and may make time for scheduled consultations with students.

Qualifications

Eligibility Requirement:

  • Must be registered in, or completed a program, within the department

  • Previous marking experience preferred

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

  • In-depth knowledge of the material covered in the course/program
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to evaluate information effectively and provide appropriate recommendations or feedback
  • Attention to detail and proofreading abilities with an excellent command of the English language
  • Communication skills to convey information and feedback in a clear and effective manner
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
  • Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work
  • Ability to provide feedback in a way that is positively received
  • Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public
  • Ability to prioritize and organize a fluctuating work load
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and resolve issues
