About the role
e4c’s Youth Housing Program (YHP) provides safe, supportive transitional housing for youth aged 14–17 who face complex barriers including trauma, mental health challenges, addictions, homelessness, poverty, legal involvement, newcomer and refugee status, and PSECA concerns. Our homes are inclusive spaces for LGBTQ2S+ youth and prioritize trauma-informed, harm-reduction approaches. As an Overnight Support Worker, you’ll play a key role in creating a safe, clean, and supportive living environment while helping youth develop the life skills needed for a successful transition to adulthood. You’ll maintain household operations, build trusting relationships with youth, and respond effectively to crises during overnight hours. What You Bring To The Team
- Diploma or Degree in Child and Youth Care (CYC), Social Work, Human Services, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years supporting marginalized populations; youth-specific experience is an asset.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed, harm-reduction, and solution-focused practices.
- Strong interpersonal, empathetic, and non-judgmental communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Passion about empowering youth, committed to creating safe and inclusive spaces, and ready to support young people through critical transitions.
Important work you will do at e4c
- Maintain household cleanliness per guidelines and licensing/accreditation standards.
- Perform basic yard maintenance (e.g., snow removal, raking, litter pickup).
- Ensure household is stocked with cleaning/personal care supplies and linens.
- Complete required documentation (OH&S, cleaning checklists, perimeter checks).
- Report maintenance and repair needs to the Overnight Lead.
- Administer and document prescribed medication according to protocol.
- Build positive rapport with youth through supportive, active listening.
- Model and encourage positive communication, conflict resolution, and respect.
- Maintain respectful relationships with neighbors and community members.
