Know our team
Nutrition International's Partnerships and Growth unit is a diverse team of dedicated professionals in business development, advocacy and government relations. The unit serves as a knowledge management hub and facilitates decision-making of all resource mobilization efforts, promotes standardized prepositioning and proposal processes, and supports business development capacity building across NI teams. The unit specifically leads NI's response to competitive funding opportunities (RFPs) through prepositioning and proposal development and leads on the cultivation of private sector donors through prospecting and stewardship. We support resource mobilization efforts at the regional and country level by supporting bid planning, outreach and engagement with donors and partners, and proposal development. The unit works closely with other teams across the organization to grow and diversify resources for Nutrition International's global strategy and Investment Case. Currently, Nutrition International is seeking applications for a Director, Partnerships & Growth to be based in Ottawa, Canada or Remote.
About you
You are someone with a Master’s degree preferred in international development, public policy, business administration, public health or nutrition, or related field; bachelor's degree required. You have 10+ years of progressive experience in international partnerships, global development, or resource mobilization, with a strong track record of securing significant funding from governments, foundations, and multilaterals.
You have demonstrated the ability to build and maintain high-level relationships, especially with senior government officials, international stakeholders, and major donors. You have solid experience navigating complex multi-stakeholder environments, including Canadian and global agencies, NGOs, and private sector. Your skills include strategic thinking and leadership with the ability to innovate partnership approaches and align them to NI’s vision and outstanding diplomacy, negotiation, and analytical skills for complex relationship management. You have proven project management, organizational, mentoring, and development skills.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in French and or Arabic is an asset.

The Director, Partnerships & Growth is responsible for driving transformational funding through deep and innovative partnerships with major donors, governments, philanthropies, multilaterals, and non-traditional actors. Operating as part of a dynamic leadership team, the Director drives strategic connections and develops new approaches for partnership, diplomacy, and engagement, ensuring that Nutrition International is poised to play a leading role in shaping solutions for international development and nutrition challenges worldwide. This role is ideal for candidates who thrive on championing collective progress, amplifying institutional visibility, and unlocking new pathways to advance the global good through collaborative action.
In this role you will:
Enhance Visibility and Reputation
- Develop and execute comprehensive strategies to raise NI’s profile as a leader in international nutrition and development by actively participating in key policy dialogues, global forums, and strategic communications initiatives.
- Shape NI's public image and reputation among major donors, government entities, and multilateral organizations to attract significant investments and funding.
Facilitate Strategic Connections with Governments
- Serve as a key liaison between NI and government officials, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange that advances NI’s mission and programmatic goals.
- Build and nurture high-level relationships to position NI as a trusted broker and partner in the international development landscape.
Support International Partnership Development
- Lead efforts to identify, pursue, and secure new partnerships with major donors, leveraging NI’s Canadian and global networks to support resource mobilization and program scaling.
- Collaborate internally to align partnership strategies with NI’s overall growth agenda and program priorities.
- Negotiate and steward strategic funding agreements, ensuring compliance and performance tracking.
Policy Monitoring and Intelligence
- Track and analyze global and domestic policy developments relevant to international nutrition and development, providing strategic recommendations to shape NI’s positioning and inform partnership strategies.
- Ensure NI's approach reflects current trends, opportunities, and risks in the sector.
Cross-Sector Engagement
- Build and sustain relationships with Canadian NGOs, academic institutions, and private sector allies to amplify NI’s impact and create collaborative opportunities for resource mobilization and innovation.
- Position NI as a catalyst for sector-wide initiatives that attract and engage major donors and partners.
Nutrition Diplomacy
- Develop and implement strategies to leverage Canada's global nutrition leadership, aligning NI’s work with broader geopolitical, trade, and foreign policy interests.
- Represent NI at high-level meetings and international negotiations, advocating for new and innovative funding models with major donors and partners.
Travel: 15-20% of the role will be occupied with international travel.
