The Royal Alexandra Hospital is currently searching for a Social Worker II to join our team. Our state-of-the-art facility provides specialized treatment services to patients in the Edmonton and Northern Alberta area. The SW II will thrive within a supportive, interdisciplinary team that is dedicated to ensuring safe, efficient, evidence-based, patient and family-centered, inpatient and outpatient care. The SWII is responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients as well as development, implementation, and evaluation of treatment programs according to professional practice standards, program development and evaluation, student supervision and staff education. Our team of passionate health care professionals are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of those affected by illness or injury by providing comprehensive support and care from the time of diagnosis, throughout treatment and discharge back into community. Specifically, you will join a progressive team of Allied Health Professionals that include SW, SW assistant, Housing Support worker, Transition Coordinators, OT’s, PT’s and more that continuously collaborate to provide the best care for patients and have opportunities for ongoing mentorship. Please note there can be flexibility in scheduling, working hours or FTE for this position that also meets operational requirements.

Description:

As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work.

Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Greater than 1 year experience in an inpatient adult acute care setting is required. Demonstration of strong critical thinking and problem solving is required. Experience working successfully in a collaborative interdisciplinary team setting is required. Experience with capacity assessment processes, financial assessments and complex placement processes is an asset. The candidate will have proven communication skills to work cooperatively and effectively with the health care team members, patients and their families in a fast-paced environment. Strong professional judgment, initiative, and effective time management skills are necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year SW experience within the last 3 years in an acute care setting. Experience with diverse cultural groups and newcomers, applying cultural humility and adapting care to varied needs. Skilled in supporting care transitions across settings. Experience working as a Social Worker within the Edmonton area and knowledge of trauma-informed care and harm reduction approaches. The ability to work with various computer programs is an asset.
