About the role

We are seeking a resourceful and forward-thinking Cybersecurity Manager to join our Cybersecurity Operations team. This role will lead initiatives in End Point Protection, Network Security, and Cloud Cybersecurity, serving as a subject-matter expert, manager, and strategic advisor. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Global SOC, Data Protection, Infrastructure, Compliance, Threat Intelligence, Risk Management, Governance, IAM, and third-party vendors to enhance Aviva Canada's cybersecurity capabilities.

The ideal candidate brings a broad understanding of information security systems, strong technical acumen in networking, programming, and system administration, and a passion for advancing cybersecurity practices across the organization.

What you'll do

  • Define and document security requirements for projects, including functional and non-functional needs.
  • Develop and execute security test cases aligned with project goals.
  • Implement and manage cybersecurity tools and platforms across endpoint, cloud, and network domains.
  • Design and automate playbooks and processes within a SOAR platform.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor emerging threats and assess organizational impact.
  • Identify security gaps and recommend best practices to strengthen cybersecurity posture.
  • Create, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of cybersecurity tools, processes, and initiatives.
  • Generate and present monthly performance reports to stakeholders.
  • Lead and manage a team of cybersecurity professionals, providing mentorship, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Coordinate team activities, set priorities, and ensure timely delivery of cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors, including evaluating solutions, overseeing service delivery, and ensuring compliance with contractual and security requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to drive continuous improvement.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or Engineering, with security certifications like CISSP, CISM, CISA, Security+, etc. would be an asset.

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in IT or networking, with at least 5+ years focused on Cybersecurity.

  • At least 2 years of hands-on cybersecurity engineering experience in two or more of the following domains:

    • Cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP)
    • SIEM, log management, network security and monitoring
    • Endpoint detection and response
    • Vulnerability management
    • SOAR and automation
    • IAM/PAM
    • Data Loss Prevention
    • Threat Intelligence and UEBA
  • Proficiency in managing cybersecurity tools in Windows and Linux environments.

  • Strong understanding of network protocols, security best practices, and vulnerability remediation.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing and developing high-performing technical teams.
