Strategic Sourcing Specialist
Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC) is a national, not-for-profit, shared services organization that supports hundreds of health care providers across Canada, as well as child welfare agencies and other public sector organizations. MMC provides value-driven contracting and procurement solutions for medical/surgical supplies, pharmaceutical products, local sourcing, capital (equipment, FF&E and redevelopment) and nutrition solutions. Other services include data analytics, in-hospital support, warehousing/logistics, technology, procure-to-pay, and accounts payable.
With an emerging focus on sustainability and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples, MMC is actively supporting the creation of a resilient value chain that incorporates environmental, social and governance best practices. Based in Burlington, ON, the organization also has offices in Toronto, Thunder Bay, Kingston, Brantford, London and Chatham, and a distribution centre in Oakville.
We are currently recruiting for a full-time Strategic Sourcing Specialist to support our Strategic Sourcing team.
Position Overview
Reporting to a Senior Manager or Director, Strategic Sourcing, this position is responsible for providing support to lead and implement strategic sourcing processes which achieve the best possible overall value by implementing contracts for safe, quality products and services.
This position should demonstrate an ethical, professional, and accountable manner as a liaison between Members, Suppliers, Internal Stakeholders and Strategic Alliances. Responsible for upholding and supporting Public Procurement laws and directives.
Key Responsibilities
Sourcing Initiatives – Full accountability for strategic sourcing activities including development, award, and management:
- Oversee and lead the sourcing initiative process from start to finish including contract development, negotiations and management, ensuring the best possible outcome.
- Establish and manage project timelines with internal customers and suppliers.
- Conduct research of business environment in support of initiatives.
- Manage all stakeholders through their roles and responsibilities within the sourcing initiative.
- Provide pertinent information relating to the regulatory business environment.
- Maintain timely and accurate reporting of the progress of RFx events in the reporting tool.
- Assist with the financial analysis.
- Preparing and presenting, to all stakeholders, all stages of sourcing initiatives
- Negotiate and execute contracts.
- Cross-functional team coordination.
- Monitoring Supplier and Member compliance, if required.
- Support category management and vendor relationship management activities as required.
Support various special projects within Strategic Sourcing such as:
- Actively participates in developing and implementing corporate business plans and new opportunities.
- Provide support to internal projects such as new customer growth opportunities and special projects with the Ministry of Health/Ontario Health, if required.
- Support Member Engagement with the onboarding of new members to MMC, as required.
- Provide input/assistance to large, high-profile sourcing initiatives
- Support the development of improved processes and templates for further standardization.
- Manage work plan reviews.
- Collaborate with Policy and Procedures updates.
Contract Management
- Accountable for the ongoing management of existing contracts (product/Member additions), issue resolution, pricing changes
- Interfacing with Members on answering questions/queries on the contracts and delivering exceptional customer service.
Qualifications and Skills
Skills and Competencies
- Familiarity with online RFx software (i.e., Bonfire/Biddingo).
- MS Office, business – advanced knowledge, including but not limited to MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Education, Training, and Experience
Mandatory
- Post secondary degree
- 4 to 6 years’ experience in a sourcing environment involving contract development and contract negotiations
- 2 years’ experience in strategic procurement
- Demonstrated ability to organize, control and coordinate various activities in a fast-paced, ever- changing environment.
- Knowledge/experience in materials provisioning and understanding of business and legal issues.
- Excellent communication skills with strong analytical abilities and mathematical aptitude.
- Demonstrated experience in supplier relationship management and supplier qualification.
- Developing/conducting presentations – advanced knowledge.
- Project Management training.
- Conflict resolution training.
- Negotiation training.
- Business Writing

Travel
- Ability to travel to Mohawk Medbuy offices if required.
