About the role

This position is presently located at the Woodstock site.

This posting is for one (1) current vacancy.

The Program Assistant performs a variety of administrative support initiatives as well as providing relief support to others ensuring that all Health Unit services are provided in an effective and efficient manner. Working in a team-based environment, program assistants maintain the required professionalism and diplomacy in dealing with the general public, staff, and outside agencies to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION

  • Successful completion of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent as recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Education

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum six (6) months related work experience in an administrative function; experience in a health care setting considered an asset

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Good interpersonal skills: courtesy, tact, attentiveness, and the ability to exchange information with clients and staff
  • Excellent command of the English language, both oral and written
  • Ability to have good working relationships with public, staff, and suppliers, including the ability to work collaboratively with other staff
  • Ability to multi-task given a variety of duties within this job
  • Communicates both in writing and verbally in a clear and professional manner
  • Ability to work independently with competence and accuracy
  • Well organized with an ability to prioritize, plan, organize, follow processes, and manage time and work effectively as well as ensuring the timely and correct execution of such duties
  • Solves problems and work assignments by drawing on one’s own knowledge, experience, resources, and training material, and/or calls on other people or resources as necessary
  • Ability to read/process various types of written material; format resources, prepare notes, draft letters, and other correspondence
  • Good keyboarding and data entry skills with a high level of accuracy

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Valid Ontario Driver’s license and access to a reliable insured vehicle
  • Must comply with the current Ontario Public Health Standards
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required
  • Adherence to SWPH’s policies and procedures

Terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with CUPE Collective Agreement.

Salary Range: $25.18/hr to $29.60/hr (70 hours in a two-week period).

A criminal reference check completed within the last six (6) months from a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPID), inclusive of vulnerable sector screening, will be required of the successful candidate.

Immunization Requirements: Fully vaccinated against COVID-19, are able to provide proof of immunization, and acknowledgement to follow Southwestern Public Health's policies and processes related to COVID-19 management in the workplace.
