Posting Period: August 2, 2025 - August 8, 2025 The Manager, Ambulatory Care and Clinical Support Services is responsible for the operational and strategic leadership of the Interventional Psychiatry department, Ambulatory Clinics, Clinical Emergency Response across Hospital sites, and the coordination of Dental services at Providence Care Hospital. Under the general supervision of the Director, Professional Practice and Clinical Support Services, the Manager is accountable for ensuring high-quality care, effective planning of human and material resources, and the advancement of clinical operational practices within assigned areas. The Manager provides strategic and operational leadership that drives continuous improvement, fosters collaboration and innovation, and upholds corporate values, professional standards, and organizational policies.

Skills And Qualifications Required

  • Undergraduate-level degree in a Health Care Profession, Nursing preferred
  • Masters-level degree in healthcare, leadership, business, etc., preferred
  • Current unrestricted registration with a regulatory College in Ontario, preferred
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible leadership experience in clinical or healthcare operational roles, preferred
  • Professional clinical and/or leadership experience in critical care settings, preferred

Position Responsibilities Person-Centred Care

  • Establishes standards of care, with respect to areas of responsibility, in accordance with patient/client needs, consistent with best practices and evidence-based standards of care, profession specific practice standards and program requirements, in collaboration with the Director(s)
  • Coordinates and conjunction with appropriate parties, to meet patient/client care needs and goals maximizes available resources in assigned areas of responsibility
  • Promotes and implements, where applicable, an interprofessional approach to patient/client care and fosters collaborative relationships with other program staff within the Hospital and throughout Providence Care
  • In collaboration with Professional Practice, promotes excellence in patient/client care and supports the facilitation of the review of profession specific practice consistent with professional practice standards
  • Supports the development and enhancement of partnerships with applicable corporate and community services throughout the region, to ensure a continuum of service for patients/clients

Leadership and Culture Development

  • Facilitates the recruitment of new employees, working with support from People Services to coordinate recruitment, interviewing, hiring and orientation
  • Ensures that staff maintain all necessary skills through selection, orientation and training of staff, by providing ongoing coaching and performance management, including completing Performance & Learning Plan Reviews, as per policy; uses participatory leadership to encourage staff to participate in problem solving, goal setting and ongoing quality improvement
  • Manages performance of direct reports including, ongoing coaching, mentoring, counseling and/or disciplinary action, involving other relevant parties as appropriate in consultation and collaboration with Employee and Labour Relations as needed/required, resolves conflict and other Labour Relations issues, including grievance resolution, working through formal complaint/dispute resolution processes and administering the provisions of the applicable Collective Agreements
  • Administers the Attendance Support Program for all direct reports, working with People Services as required
  • Provides leadership in the implementation and delivery of continuing education initiatives, promoting an environment conducive to continuous learning, professional development and research
  • Promotes and supports staff involvement in local, regional and provincial educational and developmental activities as appropriate
  • Inspires and guides staff to achieve department goals and objectives by articulating, demonstrating, and incorporating the Mission, Vision, and Values of Providence Care in all aspects of portfolio leadership
  • Ensures staff are following regulatory practice standards, as well as department and corporate policies and procedures
  • Facilitates the clinical experience of students as supported by Providence Care

Operational and Strategic Accountability

  • Develops goals and objectives in collaboration with department/portfolio staff, Director(s) and other internal parties, in support of Providence Care’s strategic directions and evolving directions within the Health Care system
  • Promotes, encourages, and leads the development and adoption of innovative practices to improve operational efficiencies and enhance productivity and patient/client care, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources
  • Coordinates and supports the development and implementation of operational plans within areas of responsibility in collaboration with the Director
  • Oversees the clinical emergency response program, ensuring staff readiness, education, and continuous improvement
  • Leads reviews of emergency response events and integrates lessons learned into protocols and staff education to enhance future readiness
  • Develops business cases, proposals, and impact analyses for program changes and new program implementation
  • Manages daily operations of portfolio departments in accordance with collective agreements, policies and procedures, contracts, and best practice models
  • Participates in and leads local and regional committees as required; provides input to decisions and implements changes as needed
  • Liaises with appropriate regional partners, agencies, and other relevant parties, to build and maintain strong professional relationships and fiscally maximize any advantages
  • Supports the Director by facilitating special projects as assigned
  • Liaises with dental associates on behalf of Providence Care Hospital regarding physical space and services provided to Providence Care clients
  • Participates and leads equipment and other Requests For Proposals (RFPs) on behalf of the portfolio, in collaboration with the Clinical Projects and Procurement Lead
  • Ensures effective communication within Providence Care and to external clients and contacts

Financial Management

  • Develops annual portfolio budget in collaboration with Finance, for approval of the Director.
  • Manages annual portfolio expenditures within budget and submits budget reports as required, approving operating and capital expenditures within delegated authority
  • Performs variance analysis, recommending actions and recovery plans as required, and develops proposals and business cases for major expenditures and capital purchases for submission to the Director
