Based in Montreal and reporting to the Project Manager, the Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving health and safety practices on construction sites. He or she acts as a key resource for all health and safety matters and ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the application of the company's health and safety (H&S) policies on construction sites;
  • Identify risks and recommend corrective measures;
  • Conduct regular site inspections and produce corresponding reports;
  • Lead safety meetings (pre-start meetings, toolbox talks);
  • Collaborate with subcontractors to ensure compliance with H&S requirements;
  • Manage accidents/incidents: investigations, reporting, and implementation of corrective actions;
  • Contribute to the development of prevention plans and safe work procedures;
  • Stay current on H&S regulations and industry standards;
  • Train and raise awareness among workers on best H&S practices.

Qualifications:

  • DEP or DEC in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent experience;
  • Must hold a valid Health & Safety Coordinator Certification (mandatory);
  • ASP Construction card (mandatory);
  • Minimum of 3 years of H&S experience in the construction industry;
  • In-depth knowledge of the Safety Code for Construction Work (CSTC);
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders (workers, foremen, managers);
  • Strong observation skills, attention to detail, leadership, and diplomacy;
  • Proficiency with computer tools (Microsoft Office Suite, H&S reports, etc.).
