Medical Laboratory Technologist - Transfusion Medicine and Tissue Bank - Regular Part-time 2025-14303 (2025-14303)
About the role
Summary Of Duties Blood transfusion and tissue banking activities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Routine testing duties within the Blood and Tissue Bank (group and screen, crossmatching, receipt, storage, product preparation and distribution of blood and tissue products)
- Provide technical, scientific education and supportive services to assist in the provision of patient care.
- Promotes activities which enhance best practice for quality of service and a safe working environment
Qualifications/Skills
- C.M.L.T.O. registration or registration in progress
- Minimum 1 year recent Blood and Tissue Bank experience required
- Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work as a part of a team and independently as required
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Knowledge and understanding of CQI
- Knowledge of current Blood and Tissue Bank Standards and Regulations (CSA, CSTM, AABB, AATB and Health Canada)
- Computer skills required
- Flexibility/adaptability required
- Knowledge of quality assurance practices required
