The Vancouver Island Health Authority has a locum opportunity for a Pediatrician to cover maternity leave (between 8-12 months, dates are flexible) in beautiful Duncan, BC! The general pediatrics office practice is 2 days a week in Duncan and 1 day a week in nearby Shawnigan Lake. Duncan office is shared with 2 other pediatricians and the 4 OB/GYN. Shawnigan office is shared with family physicians and involves many referrals from Shawnigan Lake School. The call requirement is 7-8 shifts per month, which is inclusive of one weekend per month. Call covers ER consults, in-patient Pediatrics (4 beds) and nursery for 36+ week newborns (~580 births/year). We transfer to Nanaimo or Victoria for babies <36 weeks or requiring higher level NICU care. Also opportunity for outreach to Prince Rupert and Haida Gwaii (2 weeks in each community a year). There are opportunities for medical student and pediatric resident teaching. Please contact me for further details.
