Your Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly skilled, client and family centered, team oriented, welcoming and engaging Addictions Counsellor to join our team at the Northern Addictions Centre. The Addictions Counsellor III will provide clinical services to clients, including group counselling and some individual counselling to clients with gambling, alcohol, and other drug problems. You will also conduct assessments, provide case management, aftercare planning, and deliver psycho-educational sessions to treatment clients, using best practice guidelines. This role also monitors and evaluates client progress and achievement of recovery goals and adapts treatment plans as needed. As an Addictions Counsellor III, you will utilize your relationship building skills with clients, families, and colleagues.

In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will provide quality, client focused, recovery based and culturally appropriate assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education and referral services for clients and their families; as well as community stabilization services. You will develop and implement treatment plans and provide a range of interventions which offer least intrusive and most appropriate services to clients and their families. You will also monitor and evaluate client progress and achievement of recovery goals and adapt treatment as needed.
As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will depend on your excellent relationship building skills with clients, families, government staff and colleagues.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Addictions or a combination of a bachelor's degree in a related field with course work in addictions. A related degree combined with a diploma related to addictions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Individuals eligible for registration under the Health Professions Act (Alberta) must maintain active registration.
Individuals may require authorization/permission under regulation to perform restricted psychosocial interventions and/or restricted activities.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience facilitating groups. Experience using Connect Care. Valid NVCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) certificate.
