- Recruitment range: $65,860- $72,607 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.
- Performance range: $85,633 salary range ceiling is available through annual performance increases.
Job Summary
Mandate:
The Coordinator, Clinical Training plays a key role in supporting the planning, coordination, and delivery of clinical learning and assessment activities within the Nurse Practitioner (NP) program in the School of Nursing. This position is responsible for organizing on-site and virtual clinical training experiences, contributing to the program’s commitment to excellence in nurse practitioner education, and for managing the Standardized Patient Program. Working in close collaboration with faculty and staff, the role ensures that clinical learning activities are effectively implemented and aligned with curriculum and accreditation standards, thereby supporting the university’s goal of preparing highly competent, practice-ready graduates.
Objectives:
- Coordinate high-quality clinical training and assessment experiences that enhance student learning and readiness for practice.
- Support NP program faculty in the development and execution of simulation-based education and clinical learning activities.
- Ensure the effective recruitment, preparation, and support of Standardized Patients, examiners, and guest facilitators.
- Maintain systems and processes that support the planning, scheduling, delivery, and evaluation of clinical education components.
- Contribute to continuous program improvement and accreditation processes through data collection and analysis related to clinical learning activities.
On-site clinical learning activities may take place outside regular work week hours and on weekends as required. The work week will be adjusted accordingly for these days. Some of these activities may be scheduled at off-campus clinical locations. Transportation will be arranged or reimbursed when activities are off-campus.
Job Requirements
This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, and a minimum of three (3) years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:
- Advanced organizational skills, including the ability to organize groups and provide direction to others.
- Demonstrated ability in facilitating and leading group processes including the ability to teach others how to effectively participate in simulations (i.e., how to deliver a script and how to consistently portray a character).
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sensitivity, empathy, discretion, and good judgment and to relate to and work with people at all levels.
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing the principles of truth, reconciliation and respect, equity diversity and inclusion, and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team-based environment.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems, work in a fast-paced environment, and maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated strong communication skills including public speaking.
- Demonstrated knowledge of standard office technology and their application, such as MS Office and calendar applications, and video conferencing.
- Knowledge of best practice related to clinical practice education, simulation, and the use of standardized patients, is an asset. This includes the best practices related to the development, operations, and evaluation of these activities specific to nursing (https://www.inacsl.org/.)
- Knowledge of or experience working in a healthcare environment, medical terminology, and of the community and its available resources, is an asset
- Experience teaching, providing training or mentoring, working in simulation scenarios, and presenting at workshops, is an asset.
- Theatre training and knowledge of acting techniques is an asset.
