About the role
The successful candidate will join MEMS Brownfield Assessment and Development (BAD) team in completing assessment, remediation, and contaminant hydrogeology projects for clients in Canada. This position is full time and requires a combination of office and fieldwork (70 field/30 office split).
Key Responsibilities:

Supporting the planning, organizing, and completing field programs for Phase 1 and 2 ESAs, remediation and contaminant hydrogeology projects, including soil and groundwater assessments, under the guidance of senior staff.

Execute all aspects of the project and portfolio work in accordance with MEMS project. technical and quality management requirements.

Proactively seek mentorship from senior Environmental Scientists/Engineers – Field Leads to build skillset and competency with a desired outcome to be vetted as an Environmental Scientist/Engineers – Field Lead.

Undertaking groundwater monitoring and sampling for various facilities.
-
Developing work plans and cost estimates for assessments and remediation projects incorporating a risk-based approach.

Accurate field cost tracking of expenses and contractors.
-
Executing all aspects of the project in accordance with the contract and ensuring quality of processes and deliverables under the guidance of senior staff.

File compilation, organization of field data, interpretation of laboratory data results and report writing.

Working with senior risk assessment BAD staff to develop appropriate risk-based site management strategies.
-
Working independently or in a team setting and the ability to make responsible decisions with the support and mentoring of senior staff; and
-
Other duties as assigned
What you bring:
- Directly applicable post-secondary education /Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience in assessment and remediation through one to two (1-2) years of experience, preferably in the environmental consulting industry.
- Eligibility for membership in a relevant professional organization is required.
- Must be able to meet the requirements of site access as dictated by our clients; this may include pre-access drug, alcohol and fitness testing, and
- Possess a valid, non-GDL Class 5 Drivers license.
Other knowledge and skills:
- Familiarity with the environmental site assessment process and environmental industry’s best practices.
- Understanding of the Alberta Tier 1 and Tier 2 guideline documents and/or equivalent documents from other jurisdictions as required.
- Understanding of the upstream and downstream oil & gas industry, and oil sands industry and commercial/industrial/brownfields environmental industry.
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of MS Office Suite.
- Be able to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary setting.
- Ability to work either independently or as a part of a team interacting with other team members and contractors.
- Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic; and
- Excellent safety attitude.
