Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Manager, Pharmacy, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the Pharmacist is responsible for performing clinical and distributive activities: ensuring that drug therapy ordered for inpatients and outpatients is safe, efficient and effective; clarifying medication orders and intervening when appropriate; verifying drug orders on a patient’s profile; overseeing the processing of prescriptions and sterile products and approving the final products; compounding sterile and extemporaneous products as required; promoting safe medication practices; performing therapeutic drug monitoring on selected patients and educating patients on medication use; assisting in the training/teaching of new pharmacists, support staff, and students, and participating in educational sessions; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Experience

  • One (1) to three (3) years hospital pharmacy practice preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • A Bachelor of Science, Pharmacy is required.
  • Pharmacy Residency preferred.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada Certification required.
  • License to practice in Manitoba required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.

  • Ability to retain information which is of a confidential nature.

  • Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with other individuals.

  • Mature professional manner.
