About the role

Your Opportunity:

This MRT I position performs quality general radiology, fluoroscopy, pain clinic, portables, OR and CT head examinations in the busy and dynamic Diagnostic Imaging Department at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. Close collaboration with technical staff, nursing, patients, physicians, supervisor and management is required.

Description:

As a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) I, you will perform a variety of standard technical radiological imaging examinations on patients for the purpose of disease and pathology diagnosis. You will interpret physician requisitions, prepare and assess patients for examination and produce high quality diagnostic images for Physician/Radiologist review, and assist with the care and maintenance of equipment. Your work may include a variety of procedures such as general and portable radiography, mobile and surgical suite examinations, as well as fluoroscopy where required.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program.

Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT).

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

MRT with hospital experience within the last 3 years required. Excellent technical skills in general radiology, fluoroscopy, CT heads, portables and OR required. Demonstrated knowledge in radiation safety. A good work ethic and a positive attitude is essential. Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, computer and interpersonal skills. Ability to assume responsibility, work effectively independently and within a team. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations. Must be able to demonstrate interest in professional growth. Excellent perception, initiative, judgment and concern for detail and accuracy required. Demonstrated tact, courtesy and professionalism with patients, staff, leaders and physicians. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

Connect Care and Provincial Enterprise Imaging (PEI) proficiency an asset. Able to demonstrate volunteering or taking on additional responsibilities in the department an asset. AHS annual continuing education and ACMDTT education requirements up to date and applicable additional courses preferred. Demonstrated participation in AHS Diagnostic Imaging Quality program/Peervue. Experience and aptitude in mentoring students an asset.
