In order to help deliver exceptional care to Cochlear's recipients and patients in need of implantable hearing technologies, we are recruiting for a General Manager, Canada.
To be successful in this role you will provide strategic leadership for the country team that includes clinical territory managers, area managers, and surgical specialist. You are experienced in setting strategic sales direction to include both growth and share strategies to consistently deliver revenue results. Your ability to establish and manage partnerships with key customers in variety of clinical settings demonstrates your overall results impact. You are experienced in RFP and contract negotiations in the Canadian healthcare marketplace, and you are accustomed to working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to present and finalize pricing. You work collaboratively with functional leaders including marketing, customer experience, and clinical studies, to execute business strategies. Your skills are well developed in a sales training process, ideally Miller-Heiman, which are reflected in your business plans and team application and performance. You are an engaged and motivated sales leader who enjoys delivering results with and through others to achieve business objectives.
In this role you'll have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to Cochlear's successful history of innovation by applying your knowledge of business, sales and relationship management. Success in this role will support the clinic partners, surgeons and recipient customers in Canada. Success will also include long-term strategic planning to provide growth for Canada's sales, customers and team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Overall operational leadership responsibility for Canada, it's team members and customers.
- Hires, coaches and develops the team to effectively deliver results on the business strategy.
- Assures compliance with all relevant guidelines and regulations, maintaining a commitment to quality and compliance within the team.
- Works with team members to ensure the establishment and maintenance of strong customer relationships with surgeons, audiologists, surgical departments, purchasing, etc.
- Oversees country planning for consumer engagement initiatives and alignment to business strategy.
- Travels with team members to coach, train and develop relationships with customers.
- Reviews, approves and presents pricing and unit purchase proposals and contract options with team members. Collaborates with internal stakeholders to manage purchase proposals and ensure completion in a timely and compliant manner.
- In coordination with marketing leaders, develops and executes successful marketing initiatives and other programs. Evaluates trends and impact on market to ensure positive outcome.
- Develops annual budgets and tracks and analyses results to plan.
Key Requirements
To add value to Cochlear in this role you'll be able to meet and demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and abilities in your application and at interview:
- Bachelor's Degree with course work/training in business preferred.
- Five (5) years' experience ideally in the Canadian or European markets.
- Five (5) years' experience in the health-care sales, marketing or medical device. Application of marketing strategies to drive business/territory growth.
- Five (5) years in a sales capacity with a minimum of (2) years of field management. Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Ability to review detailed sales reports and complete trend analysis. Application of both short and long-term business planning.
- Strong team leadership and ability to coach, mentor, train and develop team members.
- Demonstrated collaboration and ability to work cross-functionally in a matrix organization.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and execute product presentations to others.
- Demonstrated ability to write effective business plans and sales plans.
- Willingness and ability to travel both domestically and on occasion internationally. Travel requirement is approximately 60% with overnight stays, and in some instances may exceed that for specified periods of time.
- Knowledge of sales plan's objectives and strategies for product lines.
