Position Details

The University of Lethbridge is seeking a full-time, 18 month position as a Community Engaged Learning Coordinator, starting Fall 2025 to support the launch of a distributed medical education program.

This role supports the integration of community based learning within the undergraduate medical education curriculum that in partnership with the University of Calgary Cumming School of Medicine is being delivered at the UofL. This position fosters meaningful, sustainable, and mutually beneficial relationships with rural and regional community partners, ensuring that medical students gain valuable insights into priority health needs, social determinants of health, and cultural issues affecting diverse populations. The candidate will be the primary point of contact for SAMP UME students and community partners and will assist in ensuring this curricular component aligns with curricular requirements. The ongoing nurturing and developing of relationships, coordinating scheduling and relevant training prior to site placement, facilitating student matches to appropriate sites, and maintaining accurate records of placements will be essential to this role. Reporting to the SAMP leadership, and working closely with UofL Career Bridge and UofC UME and UofC Indigenous, Local and Global Health Office this position will play a vital role in establishing this component of SAMP at the UofL.

This in-person position is at ULethbridge main campus, with occasional travel to the UCalgary campus and/or surrounding communities in Southern Alberta.

The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Record Check.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Health Sciences, Community Development, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Minimum 2-3 yrs of experience in program coordination, community engagement, or post secondary education.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and inclusive approach.

  • Experience with rural or Indigenous communities is highly valued

  • Familiarity with university systems and procedures is an asset.

  • A valid unrestricted Class 5 Driver’s License with no more than 6 demerits and submission of a motor vehicle record (driver abstract) dated within 3 months of the posting close is required.

Starting Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE)

$4,691.00 - $5,246.00 monthly

Full Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE)

$4,691.00 - $5,799.00 monthly (AUPE - Grade 10)
