enrols approximately 170 students in kindergarten through grade 7, of which 61% are of Indigenous ancestry. Cayoosh Elementary is located in thewhich lies on the unceded and traditional territory of the St'át'imc First Peoples. The school'sguides the work of the school.

REQUIREMENTSANDQUALIFICATIONS:

The successful applicant must have, or be eligible for, certification to teach in British Columbia and possess:

  • Inclusion Specialist - Diploma or Masters degree in inclusive/special education w/Level B assessment;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with other teachers, parents, support staff, administration and outside agencies;
  • At least 5 years successful classroom teaching experience at the elementary level;
  • Successful experience establishing professional boundaries;
  • Knowledge of the British Columbia curriculum and core competencies;
  • Evidence of strong organization and time management skills;
  • Evidence of successful experience supporting students with social emotional challenges and strong behaviour management skills;
  • Understanding of and commitment to including trauma informed practice into their work;
  • Demonstrated experience supporting learners demonstrating vulnerabilities;
  • Significant experience supporting students one on one, in a small group and in the classroom;
  • Demonstrated experience using restorative practices;
  • Successful experience integrating local Indigenous culture and traditions into learning opportunities, or familiarity with and understanding of local Indigenous culture and commitment to integrate it into learning.
  • A commitment to and successful experience working collaboratively in a team setting and with classroom teachers and support staff;
  • A commitment to and demonstrated experience using and integrating technology into the curriculum;
  • The ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the greater community.
  • Current, valid driver's license and willingness and ability to drive as required;
