REQUIREMENTSANDQUALIFICATIONS:
The successful applicant must have, or be eligible for, certification to teach in British Columbia and possess:
- Inclusion Specialist - Diploma or Masters degree in inclusive/special education w/Level B assessment;
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with other teachers, parents, support staff, administration and outside agencies;
- At least 5 years successful classroom teaching experience at the elementary level;
- Successful experience establishing professional boundaries;
- Knowledge of the British Columbia curriculum and core competencies;
- Evidence of strong organization and time management skills;
- Evidence of successful experience supporting students with social emotional challenges and strong behaviour management skills;
- Understanding of and commitment to including trauma informed practice into their work;
- Demonstrated experience supporting learners demonstrating vulnerabilities;
- Significant experience supporting students one on one, in a small group and in the classroom;
- Demonstrated experience using restorative practices;
- Successful experience integrating local Indigenous culture and traditions into learning opportunities, or familiarity with and understanding of local Indigenous culture and commitment to integrate it into learning.
- A commitment to and successful experience working collaboratively in a team setting and with classroom teachers and support staff;
- A commitment to and demonstrated experience using and integrating technology into the curriculum;
- The ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the greater community.
- Current, valid driver's license and willingness and ability to drive as required;
