The salary range for this position is:

  • Recruitment range: $62,989- $69,444 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.
  • Performance range: $81,896 salary range ceiling is available through annual performance increases.

Job Summary

This position provides program coordination for the Faculty of Medicine’s medical education programs located at the Quw'utsun (Cowichan) site. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Clinical Education and Administration, and part of the Regional Administrative Office (RAO) team the position will work closely with and take direction from Quw'utsun Site Directors.

The primary work location for this position is at the Cowichan District Hospital in Duncan. This role requires occasional travel between sites and flexibility regarding work hours.

Objectives:
The incumbent works with UBC Family Practice Central Postgraduate Program Office, Site Faculty at the Quw'utsun (Cowichan) Site and the UBC Island Medical Program, to provide program support regarding curriculum, faculty, student assessment and evaluation, communications, program budgeting as well as scholarship/research aspects for medical students and residents. The Program Coordinator, in partnership with the relevant Site Directors (MDs), provides key leadership to ensure that program delivery at the site is successful. Additionally, the Program Coordinator provides guidance and support for medical student and resident learners.

Job Requirements

This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline, plus 2 years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills preferably in a healthcare, medical education environment, post-secondary education, or large institution.
  • Ability to apply project management best practices to achieve project goals on time.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience creating briefing notes, reports, and other documents for various audiences.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to collaborate successfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds and at all levels of the university.
  • Experience with Hospital and Health Authority's administrative processes and functioning preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills and extensive knowledge of the MS Office suite.
  • Solid knowledge of database principles and functionality.
  • Working knowledge of accounting concepts and principles.
  • Proven ability to take initiative in a past paced, changing environment.
  • Knowledge of UBC University systems and software, such as Entrada, One45, Resident Management System, Workday, Teaching Tracking & Payment System, is an asset.
  • Knowledge of university organization and post-secondary system would be considered an asset.
