Position Description

We are seeking a highly qualified candidate for a Clinical Research Project Assistant (CRPA) position in the Department of Ophthalmology & Vision Sciences at the Hospital for Sick Children located in Toronto, Canada.

We are hiring a CRPA to primarily support the Retinoblastoma Program. Responsibilities related to this project include:

Regulatory

  • Contribute to development of Research Ethics Board (REB) documents including study protocol and informed consent forms based on regulations, templates and institutional requirements

Project Coordination

  • Monitor and update project work plans
  • Schedule meetings and prepare necessary documents
  • Follow and update operating procedures

Data Collection & Management

  • Assist with REDCap and Excel database maintenance

Grant Applications, Execution and Reporting

  • Assist with preparation of grant applications
  • Manage grant budgets and accounting, including financial tracking, purchasing and expense reconciliation
  • Assist with reporting requirements to funders

Other Administrative Activities

  • Support onboarding and training of new staff and trainees
  • Assist with preparing and maintaining up-to-date PI CVs in various formats (e.g. CIHR, NIH, UofT).
  • Lead and support coordination of the annual Retinoblastoma Research Symposium

Here's What You'll Need:

  • Bachelors of Science degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 2 years of clinical research experience aligning with aforementioned role(s).
  • Demonstrated experience in any of the following would be considered an asset:

o Pediatric Ophthalmology research

o Epic

o REDCap

o Chart reviews

o Grant writing

o Project or event coordination

  • Superior communication, organization and time management skills.
  • Meticulous attention-to-detail.
  • Ability to work independently with tight deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Exceptional problem solving and decision making.
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
