Our Strategy & Engagement Division has a rewarding opportunity for a temporary full-time (approximately 3 years in duration) Encampment Navigator – and we are looking for a dynamic professional to join our team!

We're seeking a motivated Encampment Navigator to support the City’s encampment outreach efforts. In this key role, you’ll provide direct support to individuals sheltering outdoors, assists with navigating housing and support systems, and collaborate with service providers to ensure a coordinated system of care. The Opportunity
Under the general supervision of the Encampment Coordinator, you will be responsible for connecting with individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness or at-risk of experiencing unsheltered homelessness.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Experience working in a non-profit agency, government, or a customer service environment.
- Some experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty or substance use challenges.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of barriers to accessing safe, affordable and appropriate housing, informed by lived experience and or direct community involvement.
- Indigenous lived experience (culture and practices) or a commitment to support truth and reconciliation with Indigenous peoples is preferred
- Knowledge of community resources and the causes of homelessness.
- Knowledge of community safety and well-being challenges individuals experiencing homelessness may face
- Ability to engage respectfully with individuals from diverse socio-economic, racialized populations, and cultural backgrounds.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on empathy and professionalism.
