THE OPPORTUNITY
Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (“Triton”) is seeking experienced Wetlands & Vegetation Ecologists to join a well-established team of environmental professionals!
T****riton is growing and there is opportunity for both Senior and Intermediate level ecologists to come join the Triton team at our Edmonton office location!
This position will be responsible for providing wetlands and vegetation ecological expertise to field staff and project management teams.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Conducting wetland surveys, assessments, and monitoring in Alberta

Providing technical wetlands support to project teams
-
Providing vegetation ecological expertise to field staff and project management teams
-
Conducting vegetation inventories, soil assessments, and rare plant surveys
-
Survey planning
-
Permit closure reporting
-
Managing tasks and projects according to approved scopes of work and schedule
-
Liaising with on-site client representatives and contractors
-
Providing independent technical review for proposals and project deliverables
-
Providing a fulsome understanding of environmental best management practices and advising client and project teams accordingly
-
Working collaboratively across project and corporate-level teams
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
-
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in biology, ecology, soil science, botany, or a related field
-
Professional Biologist (Alberta Society of Professional Biologists) or Professional Agrologist (Alberta) designation
-
Must have an Authenticating Wetlands Professional designation with the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists
-
Experience with wetland delineation and classification
-
Familiarity with wetland regulatory regimes in Alberta
-
Experience preparing Wetlands Assessment and Impact Forms, Wetlands Assessment and Impact Reports, and the Wetland Rapid Evaluation Tool
-
Ideally 3 or more years of relevant experience
-
Experience conducting a broad variety of wetlands-specific scopes of work in both pre‑construction and construction settings
-
Plant identification skills for wetland, prairie grassland, and upland communities in boreal landscapes
-
Skilled in conducting vegetation inventories and assessments in grassland, boreal, and upland regions.
-
Soil classification experience
-
Strong technical writing, reporting, communication, and team leadership skills
-
Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative working style
-
Strong problem-solving skills
-
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
-
Detail-oriented with solid organizational and time management skills
-
Valid Class 5 driver’s licence

The work schedule for this role is negotiable, in terms of the number of hours worked per week. Both full time and part time work can be considered.

This role will report to our Edmonton AB office location. In addition, there could be consideration that a candidate can be be living anywhere in Alberta and working mostly remote.
