Position Summary:
The Supervisor will be responsible to report to the Manager of Environmental Services, assisting the Manager in meeting the overall responsibilities and objectives of the Department. Provides daily direction to the Environmental Services Staff to ensure the efficient and safe delivery of housekeeping services, including but not limited to; linen services and waste management services to our internal and external stakeholders. The Supervisor is responsible for the creation of work schedules, schedule adjustments, processing sick call and vacation replacement. The Supervisor maintains on-going professional communication with the Manager of Environmental Services, Environmental Service Staff, patients, visitors and other staff members. Provides daily direction to the Environmental Service Staff to operate within the established norms for cleaning standards and productivity. Carries out Quality Control procedures on the services delivered by the Environmental Services Department.

Responsibilities:
Provides front line supervision to Environmental Services Staff members.
Participates in activities leading to the development, revision and implementation of Departmental and Organizational policies and procedures.
Conduct Quality Control audits and checks on services delivered by the department.
Develop and maintain the equipment, chemical and supplies needs of the department.
Ensure adequate staffing needs are met in order to provide the daily services required by the organization.
Ensure a patient focused approach is delivered and adhered to by all staff.
Review and reassign daily assignments as needed as well as replace any vacant position(s).
Administer counseling and disciplinary action as deemed necessary with direction from Human Resources.
Comply with all local, provincial, and federal regulations
Tour all areas of the facility on a routine basis to review building standards and conditions of service equipment are met.
Assure that all safety regulations and fire procedures are recognized by staff and enforced.
Holds the responsibility to be due diligent towards staff members-assigning work that is not in violation of any Occupational and Health and Safety Acts.
Ensures staff are following organizational policies and procedures.
Ensure a patient focused approach is delivered and adhered to by all staff;
French Language proficiency is an asset
Qualifications:
Grade 12 High School Diploma
Professional Healthcare Housekeeper (P.H.H.) certificate– preferred or eligible to complete
Previous experience in a leadership role- preferable in a healthcare setting
Demonstrate knowledge of Microsoft Office Software’s – Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Must be able to understand and read English sufficiently to follow verbal and written instructions and measurements.
Ability to work as a team player and practice exceptional leadership skills
Practice good communication and organizational skills
Effectively co-ordinate and prioritize work with having the ability to cope with high level of stress
Demonstrate initiative, good judgment and reliability
