IPAC Lead/Clinical Coordinator

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate IPAC Lead/Clinical Coordinator to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Care (DOC), the IPAC Lead/Clinical Coordinator will lead the in-service and orientation education and continuous improvement of Infection Control Prevention and Control (IPAC) programs in the home.

What you’ll be doing

  • Works closely with the DOC/ADOC to ensure the Nursing Department operations in accordance with MOHLTC, CNO, Accreditation standards, Extendicare standards and policies of the Fixing Long Term Care Act.
  • Acts as the lead in the coordination and implementation of programs, including evaluation.
  • Acts as a resource to the interdisciplinary team in their interactions with residents and families.
  • Supports resolution processes as identified through policies and procedures.
  • Provides constructive feedback to the Director of Care regarding staff training and education needs.
  • Provides input and recommendation to the Director of Care regarding equipment, supplies requirements etc.
  • Participates in Medication Management such as Medication Pass Audit, Monthly Narcotic sheets audit, Medication drug destruction, Quarterly Reviews, etc.
  • Review care plans as needed to ensure they are updated with correct and accurate information.
  • Completes AIS, Surge Learning, and other required mandatory education.
  • Participate in IDTCs where applicable.
  • Supports Continuous Quality Improvement within the home.
  • All other duties as assigned and as outlined in the Role Description.

What you bring

  • Current Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is preferred or willingness to complete within 3 years of your start date.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in clinical nursing in seniors care that may include geriatric, long-term care, rehabilitation or chronic complex care.
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and a member in good standing with applicable regulatory body.
  • Successful completion of Basic Life Support certification.
  • Previous clients need assessment experience and use of the inter-RAI system preferred.
  • Knowledge of FLTCA & Regulations preferred.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
