NURSING GRADUATE GUARANTEE (NGG) – Registered Practical Nurse

Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) is excited to invite new nursing graduates and Internationally Educated Nurses (IEN) to join our exceptional team of nurses!

Start your nursing career on the right-path with extended orientation, training & support, and secure full-time employment within 12 months!

The Nursing Graduate Guarantee (NGG) program is a Ministry of Health (MOH) funded program that supports new nursing graduates, Registered Nurses (RN) and Registered Practical Nurses (RPN), transition into practice by providing them with 12 weeks (450 hours) of full-time employment above staffing complement. Once complete, participating nurses will apply to vacancies within the organization in order to be offered full-time employment or the equivalent of full-time hours as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) within 12 months of their start date.

As a participant of the NGG program at RVH, you will have access to:

  • RVH's comprehensive orientation program, including General Hospital Orientation, Interprofessional Orientation and Unit-specific Orientation
  • 12 weeks with a Nurse Preceptor that works directly with you to support your NGG transition into practice period and build on your prior education and experience
  • RVH's Nursing Mentorship Program where you're paired with an experienced nurse who provides support and guidance throughout your first year of nursing, and workshops with other new nurses
  • A 3-day Simulation Workshop to enhance your clinical nursing skills

Positions available in various acute clinical care departments including:

  • Acute Medicine: Cardiac Renal, Respiratory, Cancer Palliative, Medicine, Medicine Short Stay
  • Rehab/ALC: Inegrated Stroke & Rehabilitation, Transitional Care, Rotary, Specialized Seniors
  • Mental Health: Adult Mental Health, C&Y Mental Health, Withdrawal Managment
  • Emergency: ED Blue & Green Zone
  • Mat/Child: Paediatrics, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Obstetrics, Birthing Unit
  • Surgery: Surgery 2 & 3

When submitting your application, please complete the screening questionnaire to indicate your preference. Availability within the above departments are based on preceptor availability.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:

  • Graduated with a Practical Nursing Diploma in nursing from an accredited university or college
  • Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) within the last 12 months, in the General or Temporary Class prior to start date
  • Eligible for the Nursing Graduate Guarantee (NGG) Program
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required
  • Membership with the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO) or other professional nursing associations preferred
  • Consolidation within an acute healthcare facility, preferable within the department of preference.

Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, located in Barrie, Ontario, provides safe, high-quality care for residents across a large geographical region including Simcoe County and the District of Muskoka. The area is home to more than 450,000 residents, with half of RVH’s patients living outside the City of Barrie.

As the largest health centre in North Simcoe Muskoka, RVH provides highly specialized services, and technology not found anywhere else in the region. This includes the only interventional radiology suites for minimally invasive surgeries, vascular services, advanced stroke care, as well as dedicated trauma rooms in its large Emergency department.
