About the role

THE OPPORTUNITY

BBE seeks an experienced Intermediate Accountant to join the Accounting team. As an integral team member, this role helps the company’s accounting department run smoothly and efficiently. You are responsible for a list of items detailed below. You have exceptional customer service and organizational skills, and can solve complex problems. You are a change agent for improvement by collaborating across departments and ensuring revenue, pricing, rating, and administrative activities align with BBE’s Vision, Mission and Core Values.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively participate in BBE’s QHSERT programs and systems.

  • Prepare monthly financial statements.

  • Perform full-cycle accounting tasks, including:

    • Accounts receivable including collections
    • Accounts payable including payment batches
    • Credit card and bank reconciliations
    • G/L account reconciliations and journal entries
  • Analyze financial results and provide variance analysis.

  • Post journal entries and maintain and reconcile the general ledger.

  • Reconcile account balances and bank statements.

  • Perform month-end and year-end closing activities.

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards

  • Ensure accounting practices adhere to company policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Assist in implementing and maintaining internal controls.

  • Support audits (internal and external) by providing documentation and explanations.

  • Provide financial data and analysis to support strategic decisions.

  • Participate in accounting software upgrades or transitions.

  • Suggest improvements to financial processes for accuracy and efficiency.

  • Communication with internal and external stakeholders professionally and promptly.

  • Collaborate with other departments and external stakeholders.

  • Provide mentorship for junior staff.

  • Maintain confidentiality.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years full-cycle accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office.
  • Experience with MS Dynamics NAV is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Professional, customer service approach to vendor and staff relations.
