CCS is a settlement agency providing a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees regardless of race, religion or immigration status.
We aresearching for a permanent full time Family Literacy Worker who will coordinate and promote the Family Literacy Program and its activities among LINC students at three LINC locations, and with related community organizations.. The Family Literacy Worker reinforces learning outside the classroom for LINC students and their families by providing activities and resources for shared English language learning at home.

W****hat you will be doing:
- Coordinate and promote the Family Literacy Program and its activities among LINC students at three LINC locations, and with related community organizations.
- With input from the LINC Instructors and Childminders, develop and lead language-based family-time activities and special events in support of multi-generational language learning
- Work with LINC Instructors and LINC Childminders to develop and coordinate program activities in support of specific learning modules, with emphasis on digital literacy
- Support classes with family literacy related presentations and activities
- Manage and promote the use of the Family Literacy lending library; source specialized library materials
- Recruit and supervise volunteers to support the activities of the Family Literacy Program.
- Collect program data; prepare and submit data in accurate and timely monthly statistical and narrative reports as required by LINC Manager
Others
- Evaluate and make recommendations to improve program delivery.
- Participate on agency committees and special projects as assigned
- Participate in agency fundraising activities as deemed appropriate and necessary
- Attend required agency activities and meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned
What are we looking for?
- Post-secondary education in a recognized educational institute is required, B.Ed. is an asset
- Experience teaching and/or tutoring children, youth and adults
- Familiarity with LINC/ESL programs, TESL certification is an asset
- Experience in directing and supervising volunteers
- Ability to speak a second language is an asset
- A valid Social Insurance Number and legally entitled to work in Canada under relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
- Successful completion of a background check and/or vulnerable sector check upon hire
Location: 4557 Hurontario St, Mississauga, ON
Compensation: $27.05 to $30.11, based on experience
Hours of work: 35 hours per week, including evenings, weekends and occasional overtime as required

From its humble beginnings in a downtown Toronto church in 1954, CCS has grown into one of the largest settlement organizations in Canada. More than 200 employees and 100's of volunteers deliver culturally-sensitive and linguistically appropriate programs and services in more than thirty languages.
