About the role
Job title: Accounting Clerk
Location: Mississauga
Reports to: Controller
Schedule: 37.5 hours/week, days, on-site
Salary: $50,000 - $55,000 per annum
Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Clerk to support our finance and operations team. This role is responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and administrative support. The ideal candidate is reliable, accurate, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable (AP)
· Receive, verify, match, and post AP invoices
· Co-ordinate with shipping and sales department to verify, the freight and brokerage fee
· Verify purchase price and update standard costing system
· Maintain monthly purchase reports
· Prepare, process, and distribute payments (print, write, mail, file)
· Respond to vendor inquiries in a timely manner
· Reconcile vendor statements
Accounts Receivable (AR)
· Match sales order, verify sales tax and issue invoices to customers
· Receive and post customer payments, prepare bank deposits
· Maintain accurate cash receipts records
Payroll and HR Support ? Hourly Employees
· Prepare and process weekly payroll for hourly employees
· Monitor attendance and maintain weekly and annual hours worked spreadsheets
· Track and verify employees? vacation, prepare and maintain supporting documents
· Maintain employee records and update contact information
· Administer hourly employee benefits and track safety shoes allowances
· Update Seniority list and prepare employment letters
· Track payroll hours report and update production hours
· Post payroll Journal entries
Administrative Support
· Manage incoming mail and distribution
· Order and maintain office supplies (paper, toner, etc.)
· Perform additional duties as assigned by Controller
Qualifications
· Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
· 2+ years of experience in accounting and/or payroll
· Strong knowledge of AP/AR, payroll, procedures
· Proficiency in Excel and accounting software
· High attention to detail and accuracy
· Strong organizational and communication skills
