Arts, Culture and Community Services is currently accepting applications for on-call auxiliary work as an Activity Leader at Carnegie Community Centre and Oppenheimer Park. Located in the Downtown Eastside, Carnegie Community Centre and Oppenheimer Park serve an ethnically and socially diverse population, including a large percentage of people who are homeless or on low fixed incomes and residing in single hotel rooms, rooming houses or social housing.
Main Purpose and Function
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities of this work including organizing, implementing and actively participating in arts, cultural, educational and sports-orientated recreation programming for Downtown Eastside residents; stimulating active participation in programs; initiating, organizing and leading regular trips and special events; preparing and distributing materials to promote activities; providing information and referrals to patrons regarding community services and resources; helping ensure that the facility and equipment are maintained; dealing effectively with problem situations, which may include administering first aid and liaising with emergency medical services personnel.

A Police Record Check clearance is a requirement of this position. A Clearance requires the absence of any criminal charges or convictions related to this position.
