The Opportunity

School of Info & Communication Tech

The School of ICT has a requirement for an adjunct instructor to teach a course within the New Media Production and Design (NMPD) program. This course is scheduled during the day and instructional duties may be up to 6 hours per day not including marking and preparation. Currently, courses are being taught remotely in a synchronous as well as an asynchronous delivery, using D2L Brightspace and Microsoft Teams. The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology and will engage our students in the ever-changing world of information technology.

Reporting to the Academic Chair, this position requires knowledge and skills to instruct
  • Time and Project Management
  • Past and Current state of the digital design industry
  • Graphic Design principles

Note: This is an hourly adjunct position from May 5, 2021 to August 31, 2021.

The Role

  • Prepare for classes prior to delivery
  • Develop quality presentations for students
  • Use a variety of instructional techniques to promote learning and personal development
  • Show personal interest in the learner and create a climate conducive to optimal learning
  • Manage the classroom or lab to the benefit of the learners
  • Attend all SAIT training as required
  • Achievement of School initiatives and Objectives
  • Provide accurate and up to date reporting of student marks
  • Willing to take on additional responsibilities as required per the position
  • Be an active and engaged member of the School
  • Adhere to all safety legislation, guidelines and safety standards as required
  • Maintain contact with industry sectors to assure technology is relevant
  • All other duties as required for the position

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years related experience in the web design and development field
  • Previous post-secondary education in a related field, or industry training.
  • Previous teaching or training experience would be an asset.
  • Previous Adobe Suite training in an industry and/or educational setting
  • Previous teaching experience would be an asset
  • Fluent in English reading and vocabulary
  • Comfortable speaking to the public
  • Positive & respectful attitude
  • Basic level of Proficiency working in Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook
  • Ability to read, interpret and deliver specific curriculum
