What we are looking for:

Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice President, CIO Office & Public Markets Strategy, the Analyst will help the Public Markets Management Committee in making sound and fully informed decisions to foster the global investment platform’s growth and resilience. The Analyst will monitor public market trends, competitor practices, conduct external investment due diligence, and assess the performance of the investment platform, as well as the evolving needs of our distribution channels and clients. The research conducted by the team will help ensure that our investment strategies remain competitive and respond to clients’ current and future needs.

Your responsibilities:

  • Research & though leadership
    • Research and stay up to date on trends in capital markets
    • Monitor & understand the appetite of our distribution channels
    • Participate in committees/forums of internal thought leaders (R&D, ESG, Risk, Asset Allo., etc.)
  • Monitor Fiera’s investment platform
    • Analyze investment teams/strategies by monitoring performance, risk, sources of added value, fundamental characteristics, dispersion, liquidity, etc.
  • Developing Fiera’s investment platform
    • Perform relevance analysis from both a client perspective and a business perspective, help build the business case, and assist with the implementation (hiring, fund launch, pitch deck, etc.);
    • Monitor open architecture platform
    • Competitive / peer analysis
    • Ad-hoc projects assigned to the team by President of Public Markets
  • Other
    • Reporting production that will form the basis of above-mentioned analyses
    • Ensuring our internal systems carry the most up to date information related to our portfolio management teams, investment strategies, and pooled fund mandates.

Must have requirements to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences or any other quantitative discipline;
  • Master's degree in Finance, Financial Mathematics or Economics, an asset;
  • CFA designation or other relevant designations considered an asset.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in an investment performance and/or risk analysis position;
  • Solid grasp of quantitative methods, programming skills, and data organization experience;
  • Good knowledge of the investment management industry, portfolio management processes, public markets, risk management systems (e.g. Barra, APT, RiskMetrics) and performance calculation;
  • Flexibility and cooperative attitude regarding change;
  • At ease in a collaborative and dynamic environment;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to innovate; independent, critical and creative mind;
  • Strong French and English oral and written communication skills.
