Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Digital Health focuses on supporting clinical and business systems as the foundation for leveraging electronic data in the delivery of health-care services.

We have opportunities for application administrators who will provide second-level (“tier 2”) administrative and technical application support for assigned applications within the defined enterprise architecture to support users throughout the province. Reporting to a supervisor, successful applicants will provide administrative and technical user support in response to escalations form the service desk and will plan, implement and document upgrades or new application installations to expand the scope of services as part of a project team. Application administrators also provide tier 2 response to incidents and problems escalated by the service desk including independently triaging, investigating, escalating or resolving, and documenting assigned incidents or problems ensuring effective collaboration with all members of the work team to inform stakeholders of progress and resolutions. The successful candidate’s leadership, professionalism, diplomacy, and continuous improvement orientation will be evident as they collaborate to provide excellent customer service, collaborate with clients and colleagues to identify system solutions and support an integrated province-wide health-care system that provides multiculturally respectful health services delivery.

An application administrator may be assigned to support applications in any functional area of Digital Health. Our current priorities are for work assignments to support electronic patient records (EPR) and related clinical information systems which may include patient call, surgical and pharmacy systems.

Experience
  • 5 years of experience providing information services with a focus on information analysis, data management, and promoting data quality and integrity combined with demonstrated experience using and supporting assigned applications at the tier 1 and tier 2 levels
  • Prior experience with large ICT projects, hospital information systems architecture and design, use or maintenance of electronic health records or shared clinical information systems, and the Manitoba Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) are assets
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • A post-secondary diploma in an information technology, computer science, engineering or related field from an accredited educational institution; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Health informatics education and vendor applications specific to assigned application(s) are assets
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Must have a valid Manitoba driver’s license and use of a personal motor vehicle for regular travel within the province
Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrated shared leadership capabilities appropriate to influencing peers to work together to achieve established goals. Shared Health has adopted the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work safely in a typical open office environment, and to lift and carry items of up to approximately 25 pounds
