True Key Hotels & Resorts proudly manages Nootka Marine Adventures at the Moutcha Bay Resort, located at the mouth of the Conuma River just 40 minutes west of Gold River, in the beautiful sheltered waters of Nootka Sound, BC. It is easily accessible by car, float plane or boat. Moutcha Bay Resort provides a unique collection of wilderness accommodation, adventure products and services not otherwise found in our region, such as guided fishing, wildlife tours, kayak tours, boat & equipment rentals, and an onsite full-service restaurant. This position is available for Moutcha Bay Resort.

The Moutcha Bay Resort Assistant Manager is part of the leadership team at Nootka Marine Adventures and is responsible for the leadership of the guest services team in conjunction with the Resort Manager. This role may oversee front desk and/or the restaurant with daily cross over to fish processing and dock operations.

The successful incumbent has previous industry experience, particularly in hotels and resorts, and is incredibly organized. This role suits a person that is administratively strong and is proficient with point-of-sale systems, booking systems, work order systems, staffing and payroll systems, is extremely comfortable with the full suite of Office products and has demonstrated working with and leading a diverse team.

Anticipated start date: April 1st 2021
Anticipated end date: September 30th 2021

Contract length subject to change based on the demands of the season.

Position Requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Previous live-in resort management experience is an asset.
  • Must have demonstrated ability and proven leadership in managing operational budgets, managing costs, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Previous restaurant management and/or front desk management experience is required. This position will lead Front Desk operations or Food and Beverage Operations for this resort in conjunction with the Resort Manager.
  • Previous experience with hospitality point of sale systems for front desk, housekeeping, food & beverage operations, repairs & maintenance tracking systems is required, with previous experience using Smart Hotels and Auphan being a strong asset.
  • A strong command of the full suite of Microsoft Office is required.
  • Proven experience managing and motivating a diverse team of passionate colleagues is required
  • Demonstrated collaborative leader focused on precise, timely and efficient communication, sharing fearlessly with continued focus on the internal and external guest service experience.
  • The ability to work independently and thrive in a face passed environment. As a young and dynamic company information is changing constantly and this position requires the ability to adjust to change, refocus and adapt accordingly.

Preferred Certifications including:

  • Small Vessel Operator Proficiency
  • MED A3 Marine Emergency Distress
  • Restricted Radio Operators Certificate
  • Occupational First Aid Level 3

Position Responsibilities include and are not limited to:

  • Work and live on-site at Moutcha Bay Resort April through September (recognising there may be off-season site visits required).
  • Support the Resort Manager in recruiting, training, and taking a lead role in performance reviews while leading by example
  • Address guest concerns, requests, guest feedback and comments in a professional, helpful, and empathetic manner.
  • Become a subject matter expert in safety and sanitation procedures and protocols and orient the Moutcha Bay Resort colleagues on safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Take on administrative functions including inventories, month end reporting, scheduling, and payroll. Lead audits for service, safety, and sanitation.
  • Adhere to, promote, and contribute to our sustainability policies and goals.
  • Assist other department supervisors in their leadership and administrative duties as required, leading by example with the focus on continued development and succession planning.
  • Assist in actively marketing the resort in conjunction with the sales & marketing team with email blast content and website updates.
