HIRING NOW- Starbucks Barista

Wage: $15.39/ hour

Calgary, Ab- University of Calgary

Monday- Sunday/ Varied Shifts- 8 am- 6 pm

Position Summary:

This position contributes to the success by providing legendary customer service to all customers. This job creates the Starbucks Experience for our customers by providing customers with prompt service, quality beverages and products, and maintaining a clean and comfortable store environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Adhere to all government/University policies and legislation, including but not limited to:
    • Food Safety and Sanitation
    • Occupational Health and Safety
    • Employment Standards
    • Human Rights & Labor Law and Harassment
  • Provides important visual cues for guests that make a positive first impression E.g. wearing proper career wear that is clean and neatly pressed,
  • Acts with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture, values and mission of Starbucks.
  • Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep store operating to standard and to set a positive example for the shift team.
  • Anticipates customer and store needs by constantly evaluating environment and customers for cues.
  • Communicates information to manager so that the team can respond as necessary to create the Third Place environment during each shift.
  • Assists with new partner training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed.
  • Contributes to positive team environment by recognizing alarms or changes in partner morale and performance and communicating them to the manager.
  • Delivers legendary customer service to all customers by acting with a customer comes first attitude and connecting with the customer. Discovers and responds to customer needs.
  • Follows Starbucks operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety and security, to ensure the safety of all partners during each shift.
  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace so that partners can locate resources and product as needed.
  • Provides quality beverages, whole bean, and food products consistently for all customers by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards. Follows health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products.
  • Recognizes and reinforces individual and team accomplishments by using existing organizational methods.
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance
  • Follows proper hand washing techniques and all sanitation guidelines; completes all sanitation tasks as outlined by the Manager or Supervisor
  • Works in compliance with occupational health and safety legislation
  • Knows, understands and follows safe work practices and procedures
  • Uses or wears personal protective equipment or clothing as required
  • Reports all injuries/illnesses, accidents, unsafe conditions, security incidents and any contravention of health and safety legislation, policies and procedures to Management
  • Does not operate any equipment, machine, device or thing, or otherwise work in a manner that will endanger anyone
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned by Manager

  • Previous experience in Brands or in a related position preferred but will train
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrates organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling of up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficient spoken and written English
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Time management skills
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Punctual, reliable, courteous, and respectful

The finalist candidate for this position will need to complete and successfully pass a Criminal Background Check and a Vulnerable Sector Screening (if the operations we service require this). If hired for this position, your continued employment with us would be conditional upon Aramark being satisfied that you have successfully cleared both these conditions.
