About the role


We are currently recruiting for a full-time contract Bookkeeper with the potential for conversion to permanent. While the role and responsibilities will vary based on business priorities, they typically include the following:

Key responsibilities


  • All aspects of A/P, including receiving & posting vendor invoices and payments, as well as tracking status in ERP and contacting vendors
  • Reconciling bank accounts and other accounts with trial balance
  • Downloading and providing inventory/costing related reports for manager review
  • Setting up suppliers and customers in ERP, issuing purchase and sales orders
  • Compiling payables listings and arranging payments for approval by management
  • Processing employee expense claims, including reconciling reports, assigning GL codes and posting the same in ERP
  • Maintain schedules such as property, plant, and equipment, and prepaids
  • Assist in preparing and posting monthly adjusting journal entries for assets, liabilities, loans, capital, revenue, expense, depreciation, and foreign exchange
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of GST/HST returns quarterly
  • Assist with annual financial statement compilation, audits, and tax returns
  • Strictly follow accounting and operational controls as implemented by management
  • Other financial tasks and reporting, as required


Qualifications


  • Completion of diploma or certification in accounting, bookkeeping or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in bookkeeping or a related role
  • High level of proficiency with MS software, especially Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary
  • Eager to learn and to adapt to high-growth environment
  • Good English communications skills: writing, reading, listening, and speaking
  • Self-motivated and resourceful, with the proven ability to multi-task and operate successfully under tight deadlines
  • Availability to work overtime, as needed
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills

Preferred experience


  • ERP systems
  • Sage accounting software
  • Public market financial statement preparation
  • Working in a start-up or small business
  • Working with international subsidiaries, specifically US and UK
