ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for strong, dynamic and creative Building Systems Technician to join our team. The right candidate will be a part of the Building Systems team — a team consisting of various mechanical and electrical professionals who are passionate and driven to continuous improvement. Reporting to the Building Services Supervisor, the Building Systems Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of building systems equipment and facilities, including HVAC, boilers, chillers, dust collectors, air compressors and purified water systems.

**Please note, this is a continental shift**

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

  • Operate building systems, document system conditions and report abnormal conditions to Building Systems Manager.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, calibrate, alter or modify and make installations to the building systems and facilities.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of systems and make continuous improvements.
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts or other specifications; locate and diagnose trouble in the building systems or equipment.

CANDIDATE BACKGROUND

  • Trade certification in appropriate field (licensed millwright, HVAC technician, refrigeration mechanic, electrician etc.) required.
  • Minimum of 3 years proven hands on experience in operating, maintaining, repair and troubleshooting of complex systems such as: HVAC, boilers, chillers, dust collectors, air compressors and purified water systems in an industrial environment.
  • Solid knowledge of mechanical or electrical systems as applied to large institutional buildings and equipment.
  • Excellent diagnostic, troubleshooting and administrative skills. Well versed with data analysis applications and strong proficiency with Excel and Word.
  • Able to read and interpret architectural, mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Experience in the use of a computerized Building Management System to operate building equipment is an asset.
  • 4th Class Certificate with relevant steam experience preferred.
