Casual/Relief Youth Worker (Supportive Housing)

We are currently looking for a Casual/Relief Youth Worker to join our Supportive Housing team at YESS!



Who we are: Youth Empowerment & Support Services (YESS) is a not-for-profit agency working with youth facing difficult realities. We provide overnight, residential and day programming to youth who access our services. The successful candidates would be able to provide coverage for our regular staff or work alongside, as required, during days, evenings, overnights and weekends. Shifts could be a combination of 'overnight-awake' and 'sleep'. It is a requirement that Relief/Casual staff work at least 24-hour shift per pay period (every 2 weeks).



Job Summary


  • Role modeling Appropriate behaviors
  • Providing a safe, clean and secure environment for the youth
  • Assisting with intakes
  • Light housekeeping duties
  • Helping youth chose and prepare nutritious meals
  • Working with youth to develop household responsibilities
  • Maintaining records and entering information into a database and performing clerical duties



Qualifications


  • Degree or Diploma in Child & Youth Care or related Human Services field
  • A minimum two-year experience working with youth facing difficult realities
  • Experience working in a group home
  • CYCAA Child and Youth Care certification will be considered an asset



Other Requirements


  • A criminal record check obtained less than six months ago
  • Child Intervention Record check obtained less than six months ago
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
  • Knowledgeable and respectful of values, beliefs and practices of Indigenous peoples and other cultural and diverse groups
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency
