Scope of Position

The Commercial Account Manager will ensure that Nexus Community Savings (a division of Alterna financial group) attains its growth objectives and manages its existing commercial portfolio by assisting both new and current commercial accounts in meeting their business needs. The Account Manager will further the member relationship by identifying and providing for account needs for credit, deposit and other products and services. The Account Manager will manage a portfolio of medium to large sized credits and accountabilities will include all aspects of portfolio management including performance of revenue growth initiatives and credit quality assessment. Proactive involvement in business development activities will be expected, for the purposes of generating and retaining business from existing and new members.

Major Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the business development and management of the commercial and agriculture portfolios in the region
  • Manages a portfolio of businesses with lending needs within their region, involving annual review of the risk and profitability of each member’s account; monitors problem accounts and plans to minimize risk
  • Builds relationships with existing members; networks with external business organizations and individuals to generate new business
  • Receives and analyzes financial and personal net worth statements; calculates debt servicing capacity; negotiates terms and conditions of loans
  • Identifies and pursues opportunities to promote other business services and non-credit products; reviews current portfolio to ensure clients have proper banking products
  • Rewiew and prepare commercial and agriculture loans, mortgages and operating lines of credit for business purposes within lending limits;
  • Supports actions to improve the growth and development of the loan portfolio
  • Supports branch managers in obtaining new business opportunities

Qualifications

  • University Degree or work equivalency
  • 4 – 5 years commercial and consumer lending experience, customer service and sales experience
  • Thorough understanding of commercial and agricultural credit
  • Displays exceptional interpersonal skills by demonstrating approachability, trustworthiness, flexibility and a strong work and service ethic
  • Proven relationship management and sales effectiveness skill, able to identify member needs and match appropriate solutions
  • Understanding of markets and trends in the industry
  • Demonstrates results orientation in both sales and service
  • Thorough understanding of the Credit Union’s business strategies an asset
  • Thorough understanding of the Credit Union’s products and services an asset
