Description
BBA has
an established Renewable Power business line and wants to strengthen its
position in the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) market across Canada.
In this leadership role, the director will be responsible for developing T&D
opportunities and projects. The director will leverage his or her expertise,
knowledge of the industry, client relationships and engineering experience to
achieve BBA’s objectives below. This position’s focus will be to
grow BBA’s T&D business line and more specifically in the areas of Specialized
Electrical Studies, Substation and Transmission Line design, FACTS and HVDC
Balance of Plants, and Digital Power Systems.
Business development
Position the firm for upcoming
opportunities and prepare pursuit/capture strategy ahead of upcoming RFPs.
Develop a commercial / pricing strategy
needed to win.
Identify any capability gaps and strategic
partner/teaming requirements needed to win.
Serve as client account manager (CAM) for
some clients.
Work with other CAMs to ensure a
coordinated client management process in T&D.
Cross-sell the services of other divisions
within other business lines.
Track opportunities using BBA’s
opportunity database management system.
Support the development/sustainability of
a "12-Month Work Backlog Projection" to be updated monthly.
Develop a "3-Year Backlog
Projection" (by quarter) to be reviewed every 6 months.
Provide exposure to potential new clients
and expand relationships with existing clients.
Operations
Oversee delivery of projects and act as Sponsor
and/or Engineer of Record for selected projects.
Mentor young/future potential lead
engineers within the organization.
Identify, assess and hire key competencies
particular to the T&D sector that are needed to perform the work to a high
quality and expand markets.
Support succession planning and identify
strategic hires who will lead the business in the future.
Take on the role of Project/Study Manager
and/or Project Sponsor for strategic clients and projects.
Proposals
Review RFPs and steer the proposal
execution plan and deliverables, using elements established in the pursuit
strategy, in the direction needed to win.
Support proposal preparation through
creative thinking and alternative approaches.
Review proposals to ensure that RFP
requirements are met (technical and commercial) and that the price is
competitive.
Strategic planning
Review and update the T&D strategy and
action plan.
Identify target clients towards building a
sustainable client portfolio balanced between repeat business and capital
expenditure projects.
Support the development and tracking of client/project
location "logistics/geography" in view of being a sustained global
service provider with preferred low-risk clients.
Recommend
future potential strategic resources/firms that can complement in-house
expertise.
