We’re looking for a caring leader to fill the position of AIT Discipline Manager. Your mandate will be to lead a team of department managers and approximately 100 professionals specialized in automation, instrumentation, controls, operational technology and infrastructures toward achieving BBA’s strategic objectives.

The incumbent will be responsible for managing the department’s human, financial and material resources and overseeing the implementation of activities to achieve BBA’s business plan and reach the set operational efficiency objectives, while promoting diversity.

As Discipline Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing a vision and strategy to set up the various departments under your responsibility and guide teams in executing action plans.
  • Encouraging ingenuity, seeking creative solutions and innovation to improve the organization’s business practices.
  • Attracting, recruiting and training strategic candidates.
  • Overseeing the development and maintenance of expertise within the discipline, to ensure its succession and strengthen its reputation on the market.
  • Leading strategic initiatives to develop and build the firm.
  • Establishing and monitoring development and succession plans for key and at-risk positions.
  • Supervising the execution of the discipline’s activities while ensuring performance indicators are achieved as well as team management and control based on the degree of technical and commercial risk of various projects.
  • Maintaining the technical quality of the work performed by discipline resources.
  • Maintaining team commitment.
  • Fostering and maintaining strong collaboration among departments and regions across the country, and consulting with other stakeholders to understand the implications and issues of future decisions.
  • Establishing and maintaining efficient communications with various stakeholders involved in the department’s activities and serving as a resource for these stakeholders.
  • Developing the skills of department managers to encourage their autonomy.
  • Assessing performance based on key performance indicators and optimizing the team’s operational efficiency.
  • Building business relationships with the firm’s clients.
  • Ensuring the highest standards of occupational health and safety are implemented and met according to the firm’s expectations.

  • University degree in engineering or in a relevant program of study
  • 15 years of relevant experience, notably in a consulting engineering firm
  • Experience in engaging and managing teams
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative management skills
  • Experience and interest in business development
  • Experience in organizational development and in managing multidisciplinary work teams
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix organization
  • Asset: recognized technical expertise in automation, instrumentation, controls, operational technology and infrastructures
