Job title: Engineer – Operational Safety and Combustible Dust, 3–10 years

Description

You will be part of our mechanical team specializing in combustible dust and electrical classification. You will be exposed to various situations to develop your technical skills in the fields of combustible dust, machine safety, risk analysis, electrical classification and fire protection. You will work on projects in the heavy industrial sector.

Your role as an engineer will be to participate in carrying out risk analyses, engineering, technological selection and implementation of projects in the mining, energy and heavy industrial sectors, to help identify business opportunities with clients and draft winning proposals. You will mainly serve in a technical role and as a project manager for the projects assigned to you. You must contribute to BBA's business development by maintaining business relationships with clients. You will be working in the Greater Montréal area at our Montréal and Mont-Saint-Hilaire offices.

In joining our team, you will be asked to:

  • Lead and participate in risk analyses (DHA, PRA, HAZID, HAZOP).
  • Help draft technical reports.
  • Lead and participate in designing plans, estimates and specifications using guidelines from a senior engineer.
  • Make recommendations on establishing standards and on practical applications.
  • Provide assistance to more experienced personnel for the technical aspects of complex tasks.
  • Coordinate the work of drafters or other non-professional staff.
  • Make technical choices about the designs to establish, make recommendations and important decisions on highly technical or complex issues.
  • Produce technical data sheets.
  • Occasionally supervise contractors on site.
  • Participate in onsite technical audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or chemical engineering and member of the OIQ
  • Between 3-10 years of experience
  • Experience in mechanical engineering in the industrial, energy or mining sectors
  • Good knowledge of the NFPA, ATEX, CSA, IEC, NFCC standards
  • Good communication abilities (spoken and written)
  • Available for short- and medium-term travel outside the office
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office suite and other applications as well as databases and interfaces
  • Relevant experience in project management, cost estimates, drafting technical reports and troubleshooting
  • Bilingualism (English/French)
  • Asset: ASP Construction card
