Job Description

  • Carry out engineering projects for power system studies (power distribution, short-circuit, system stability, system connection)
  • Carry out engineering projects for specialized studies (wave quality, grounding, electromagnetic interference, NERC compliance, transient, stability)
  • Perform onsite testing for generation facilities (hydroelectric, wind, solar, turbogenerator, cogeneration)
  • Analyze power systems using specialized software
  • Draft and review high-quality technical reports to support our clients
  • Share your technical knowledge with colleagues and young engineers by organizing lunch and learn sessions to discuss technical information
  • Serve as a specialist, expert and integrator for system and specialized studies
  • Prepare competitive and value-added proposals
  • Successfully carry out technical mandates in system and specialized studies as a project leader
  • Promote BBA’s expertise in power systems by meeting with clients or by writing technical papers, blog articles and white papers

Work Schedule : 40 hours/week

  • Undergraduate degree in electrical engineering or a related field
  • At least 10 years of experience in power systems
  • Knowledge of power systems (HV, MV)
  • Knowledge of simulation software (PSS/E, CYME, TSAT, CDEGS, PSCAD, EMTP RV)
  • Knowledge of dynamic analysis: system stability, machine startup, machine control
  • Knowledge of machine controls: control settings, transfer features, control diagrams
  • Knowledge of connection standards (Hydro-Quebec, IESO, AESO, others)
  • Availability to travel between BBA offices.
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written (French will be an asset)
  • Asset: knowledge of NERC standards (MOD-025, 026, 027 and 032)
  • Asset: graduate degree (Master's or Ph.D.)
