Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (“Triton”) is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic Fisheries and Aquatics Biologists to join a well-established team of environmental professionals in one of our office locations including Edmonton, Calgary, Terrace, Prince George, Kamloops, or Vancouver.

Triton’s multi-disciplinary team comprises environmental professionals specializing in aquatic and terrestrial biology, soil science, vegetation ecology, environmental assessment, environmental auditing, environmental monitoring/ inspection, and resource management. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting water quality monitoring and fish rescue work scopes on variety of projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading aquatic field programs
  • Providing baseline and pre and post development fish and fish habitat assessments
  • Fish rescue and water quality monitoring
  • Supervising and training junior field staff
  • Providing technical leadership within a team environment
  • Liaising with on-site client representatives and contractors
  • Working collaboratively within Triton corporate culture


  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in biology or related field
  • P.Biol. or eligibility for registration with the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists or BC College of Applied Biology
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
  • Technical knowledge in aquatic ecology including fish habitat
  • Excellent fish handling and identification skills
  • Extensive field experience leading aquatic and fisheries programs
  • Significant experience with environmental monitoring and/or environmental inspection specific to pipeline watercourse crossings
  • Multi-jurisdictional knowledge of environmental regulations, policies, and permit application processes
  • Fish sampling experience, using various techniques
  • Adept in the operation and maintenance of required field equipment
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative working style
  • Superior problem-solving skills, with the ability to think outside the box
  • Proficient in the operation of off-highway vehicles
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Experience operating boats, including jet-drive, considered an asset
