This posting will be used to fill 1 term full-time positions working 75 bi-weekly, ending June 30, 2026. It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions.

This job is based in the community of Dawson City in the beautiful Yukon.

Who we are

The Government of Yukon's Continuing Care division is known for its exceptional standards, providing clients with the highest level of care and a healthy workplace for staff. The services offered are among the best in Canada, and Yukon's long-term care homes ranked second in a recent report issued by the National Institute on Ageing. Continuing Care's mission is to provide comprehensive care and services, including long-term care, home care, and regional therapy services, to the people of the Yukon. Dawson Home Care provides client-centred services in client's homes to support them as they age in place.

Your role

Responsible for the professional nursing care for Home Care clients in Dawson City, the Home Care Nurse-Home Support Supervisor coordinates client care and collaborates with other Home Care staff (ie. Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists) and community partners, including Trondek Hwitchin First Nation. This position involves care coordinator Home Care clients in Dawson City and surrounding area, including long-term care admissions and hospital discharges. This role requires a Nurse with excellent assessment skills and a passion for community practice. As a supervisor to full-time and on-call home support workers, the Nurse is responsible for recruiting, training, supporting and scheduling staff as they work in clients' homes as part of the home support program.

Conditions of employment

You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.

  • TB screening
  • Vulnerable Sector RCMP security clearance
  • CPR Level C (completed within last 18 months)
  • Transportation Dangerous Goods
  • WHMIS 2015
  • Valid class 5 Drivers Licence
  • Current registration with the Yukon Registered Nurses Association.

Job requirements

This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to the following:

  • Exposure to animals, latex products, second hand smoke from residents
  • Heavy lifting and bending.
  • Travel in adverse weather conditions may be required
