Job Summary

Husky is currently looking for an Industrial Hygienist, to join the Safety, Operations Integrity & Environment (SOI&E) department at their Calgary, AB location.

The Industrial Hygienist provides an integral contribution to the development, maintenance and monitoring of Industrial Hygiene programs within all areas of Husky Energy’s operations and business units.

This position contributes to the programs and processes that prevent workplace illnesses and provide protection for Husky employees from workplace industrial hygiene risks and hazards. This position also provides leadership and support for Husky employees, operations and facilities. The Industrial Hygienist is directly involved in the implementation of industrial hygiene programs and surveillance activities and supports the continuous improvement of health and safety programs, policies and management systems.

Core Responsibilities

  • Conduct or oversee the completion of workplace assessments and projects to ensure suitable controls are in place and corrective actions are identified and communicated.
  • Compile and communicate assessment reports and ensure data is correctly entered into Husky Industrial Hygiene database
  • Advise management and employees on regulatory compliance, standards and health hazard and risk assessment and control requirements
  • Participate as the Industrial Hygiene representative in investigations into significant suspected work exposure related events, concerns and issues.
  • Interpret regulations, codes, standards and other requirements as needed
  • Be seen to steward the activities and processes included in IH governance, assurance and services.
  • Contribute to the development of Industrial Hygiene resource plans, budgets and program and activity strategies


  • Required:
    • 8 – 10 years of Industrial Hygiene experience
    • Proven extensive experience reporting and communicating technical information to senior management, key stakeholders and on the ground personnel.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Proficiency with IH systems and processes
    • Proficient working knowledge of product regulatory and reporting requirements including MSDS/SDS development
    • Proficient working knowledge of OHS legislation

Education, Professional Designations, Certifications

  • Required:
    • Bachelor of Science in industrial Hygiene or related discipline
    • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License

  • Asset
    • Master of Science in industrial Hygiene or related discipline
    • Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH), Certified industrial Hygienist (CIH) or other recognized industrial hygiene designation

Working Conditions

  • Must be physically fit for field work and capable of working at heights in excess of fifty feet and in confined spaces.
  • Will require travel up to 50% of the time
